Rajasthan Royals have more or less solidified their place in the playoffs of the IPL 2024 tournament. The men in pink beat Lucknow Super Giants by 7 wickets to register a win against the same opponent for the second time this season.

It was a comprehensive win as Sanju Samson played a captain's knock to win the match for his side. Dhruv Jurel playing his first big knock season also scored an IPL fifty to help his team over the line after they were 78/3 at one stage.

It was the Royals who won the toss and chose to bowl first, Devdutt Padikkal was replaced by Deepak Hooda. The Royals went in with the same that had beaten Mumbai Indians at the start of the week.

Trent Boult did the early damage with the ball when he got the big wicket of Quinton De Kock for 8. Marcus Stoinis the hero from the last game was out for a duck when he was castled by Sandeep Sharma for a duck.

KL Rahul and Deepak Hooda then combined to add 115 runs for the third wicket to ensure the LSG team were back on track. Deepak Hooda in particular played a few crisp shots in what was his first start to the season to score 50 off 31 balls.

KL Rahul was the top scorer for LSG with 76 off 48 balls with 8 fours and 2 sixes as LSG scored 196 from their 20 overs. Chasing 197 to win, Yashasvi Jaiswal and Jos Buttler powered the team onto a fast start once more. Yash Thakur then got the England skipper bowled for 34 while Jaiswal fell to Stoinis for 24.

Amit Mishra who came in as the impact player then got the wicket of Riyan Parag for 14 to reduce RR to 78/3 in the 9th over. That sadly was the last success with the ball that LSG had as Samson and Jurel put their head down to play a match-winning knock. The RR skipper was not out on 71 off 33 balls with 7 fours and 4 sixes while Jurel scored 52 off 34 balls with five boundaries and two sixes.
