The star RR skipper and wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson has been in brilliant form in the ongoing IPL 2024. He is one of the leading run-scorers in the tournament. He is also the leading run-scorer for Rajasthan Royals in the current edition of the tournament.

He has scored 471 runs in 11 innings with an amazing average of 67.28 and a strike rate of 163.54, hitting 5 half-centuries with the bat. Owing to his brilliant performances in the current edition of the Indian Premier League, Sanju Samson has also been picked in the Indian squad for the upcoming ICC World Cup 2024.

Meanwhile, the former Sri Lanka great and currently the Director of Cricket for Rajasthan Royals, Kumar Sangakkara has spoken highly of Sanju Samson and batted for the latter to be a vital cog in the wheel for India’s success in the upcoming prestigious cricket biennial.

Here's what Kumar Sangakkara said about Sanju Samson

“He’s a special player, and when he’s fresh and focused, he can’t do. He’s a humble, grounded guy… not much on social media. He likes a lot of privacy and cares for the rest of the group. Those are great qualities to have apart from talent and skill. I think he’ll be exceptional in that group going to the World Cup,” Sangakkara was quoted as saying by ICC.

“With Sanju, the biggest thing about this season for him is having a lot of clarity about the way he should bat. He seems to lose a bit of concentration in certain stages of the game, which we’ve addressed from past seasons. He’s changed his mindset about the importance of rest and recovery, rather than just training all the time and being tired mentally and physically. The rest is his exceptional ability,” he added later.

Notably, Sanju Samson will be there as the second-choice wicketkeeper-batter in India’s squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024.
