It was completely an unbelievable and unprecedented display of batting from the star SRH opening duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. The pair completely ripped apart the SRH bowling attack in the just-concluded 57th match of the ongoing IPL 2024. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head helped SRH to register the fastest-ever successful 150+ run-chase in the entire history of the Indian Premier League.
LSG won the toss and decided to bat first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Batting first, LSG posted a total of 165 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Ayush Badoni and Nicholas Pooran scored the crucial knocks of 55 and 48 runs off just 26 and 30 balls, respectively. Besides these two, Krunal Pandya and skipper KL Rahul also scored 24 and 29 runs, respectively.
The veteran SRH pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled brilliantly and scalped 2 wickets in his quota of 4 overs conceding just 12 runs at an outstanding economy rate of just 3.00.
'Head-Abhishek' storm runs over the LSG bowling attack
While chasing the target, the opening duo of Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma completely left everyone in utter shock with their sensational batting. They chased down the 166-run target in just 9.4 overs, scoring 167 runs for no loss and winning the match by 10 wickets for SRH.
Abhishek Sharma scored 75 runs off just 28 balls, with 8 fours and 6 sixes, alongside Travis Head’s swashbuckling 89 runs off just 30 balls, with 8 fours and 8 sixes, having an unbelievable strike rate of 296.66.
Travis Head won the ‘Player of the Match award for his decisive and match-winning performance in SRH’s favour.
With this win, Pat Cummins-led SRH have strongly kept themselves alive in the playoff race, they have now moved to the third spot of the points table, with the 7th win in the 12th match, including 5 defeats. They surpassed the holders CSK who were earlier in the third spot of the table.
