'The five-time champions are back!' - Fans react as MI register their 2nd win of the season after defeating RCB in 25th IPL 2024 clash

MI beat RCB in the 25th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 by 7 wickets. RCB have now lost 5 matches while MI have won their 2nd match in the ongoing season.

The 25th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 was played between the five-time champions Mumbai Indians (MI) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Thursday, April 11. MI skipper Hardik Pandya won the toss and elected field first.

Former RCB skipper and this season’s current orange cap holder Virat Kohli couldn’t do much this time as he was dismissed on just 3 runs. Will Jacks made his IPL debut as he was included in the playing XI, however, he couldn’t impress much. The ship was steadied by skipper Faf du Plessis and Rajat Patidar who stitched a 82-run stand together.

Du Plessis was just playing a supporting role as Patidar decided to counterattack. Both smashed half-centuries, however, were later dismissed but Dinesh Karthik took it where Patidar left and played a magnificent knock of 53 runs off just 23 balls. He helped RCB to put up a total of 198 runs on the scoreboard.

Brilliant batting performance by MI

Chasing the target, Ishan Kishan Provided a cracking start to MI’s chase as he smashed a half-century off just 25 deliveries. He played his part and departed after a brilliant knock of 69 runs off just 34 balls which included 7 fours and 5 sixes. However, the real show started when Suryakumar Yadav came to bat as the no. 1 T20I batter smashed a half-century off just 17 balls. The five-time champions chased the target with 4.3 overs to spare.

RCB have now lost 5 out of 6 matches and sitting in the 9th spot in the points table. On the other hand, MI have won their 2nd match of this season and are sitting in the 7th position in the points table. RCB have to work on their bowling department before its too late.
