Getting selected for an Indian Premier League franchise is something every player thrives for. For an overseas player, the chances of getting selected are quite low owing to the limit in each team. Some of the best players get chosen by the franchises to represent them in the cash-rich league.

Some overseas batters are doubtful about getting selected for their national side in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2024. The IPL season might prove to be the X factor in their selection in the squad. Let us take a deep breath and look at the batters who might need to be at their best during the IPL season to stand a chance at getting chosen for the mega tournament.

Let us take a look at 3 Overseas batters who need to have a good IPL campaign to strengthen their T20 World Cup chances

3) Travis Head

Travis Head

The ODI World Cup 2023 winner is still a big doubt for the Australian team ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. He has been playing international games over the last few months but has yet to register a significant score for the side. The opener has been given the role of attacking from the first ball itself.

Sunrisers Hyderabad purchased the attacking opener for INR 6.50 crores. He will be opening the batting alongside Mayank Aggarwal in the upcoming season. With Pat Cummins leading the franchise, it is almost guaranteed that he will play all the games this season. It is in his hands that he can book a place for himself on the flight to the United States for the T20 World Cup with an epic IPL campaign.

2) Harry Brook

Harry Brook

This time, Harry Brook was purchased for less money than when he was sold to SunRisers Hyderabad for Rs 13.25 crore during the 2023 auction. In his initial campaign competing in the Indian Premier League, Brook had not performed well. Brook experienced a run of single-digit performances in 2023. The batter registered 190 runs with an average of 21.11 from 11 IPL appearances.

For the T20Is in 2023, Brook's performance has been patchy. The batter has only hit one half-century and six single-digit scores in the nine games that have been played thus far. If he can score runs for Delhi Capitals in the 2024 season, he might just be able to take over the middle-order spot in the England team.

1) Rachin Ravindra

Rachin Ravindra's incredible performance as a batter at the ODI World Cup 2023 has caught everyone's eyeballs. The New Zealand International finished fourth in the run leaderboard with 578 runs, three hundreds, and two fifties across ten games. In December 2024, the Kiwi batter was bought for INR 50 lakh by the Chennai Super Kings.

The five-time winners may be more drawn to him because of his batting ability. He can be useful with the bat and add his left-arm off-spin to the forte. The southpaw will be looking to make the best out of Devon Conway’s injury and perform for the franchise. If he can have a stellar campaign, he might be the player to be on the flight to the West Indies later this year.
