Former India batter and now the commentator or expert, Virender Sehwag is known for his witty responses while expressing his views on cricket. A similar thing was seen recently when he was in a conversation with the former star Aussie wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist during the ‘Club Prairie Fire’ podcast.

Gilly asked Sehwag about the Indian players not playing in the other franchise T20 Leagues in the world. In response to Gilchrist’s question, Sehwag came up with a response that immediately made it to the media headlines as soon as the video was released on the Club Prairie Fire YouTube channel.

“Do you see a time when Indian players will ever be able to go & play other T20 leagues?” asked Gilchrist to Sehwag.

“No, Don't need. We are rich people, we don't go to poor countries,” replied Sehwag followed by a big laugh.

"I can spend that money on my holidays" - Virender Sehwag while remembering turning down a BBL offer

Sehwag shared one of his experiences when he was approached by a BBL to play in the biggest Australian franchise tournament. The former blistering Indian opener also revealed how he turned down that offer.

“No, don't need it, we are rich people, we don't go to poor countries for other leagues. I still remember when I was dropped from the Indian team, I was playing IPL, then I got an offer from BBL that I should participate in Big Bash, I said okay, how much money, they said $100,000. I said I can spend that money on my holidays, even though last night's bill was more than $100,000,” he said.

Currently, Sehwag is active as a cricket expert for the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024. He also batted for Yashasvi Jaiswal’s place in India’s squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Sehwag also picked his 15-member squad to represent India in the prestigious cricket biennial.
