In the last few years, India has been a breeding ground for young pacers. From every corner of the country, there have been some extraordinary bowlers who come to the Indian Premier League and make some amazing efforts to rock the stage.

The new addition to the list is Delhi Capitals pace sensation Rasikh Salam Dar. The pacer from Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir Rasikh has been one of the most important additions to the DC squad this year. He has been phenomenal with the ball in two high-scoring games against Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians.

His efforts have helped DC to win both games by a close margin of 5 and 10 runs respectively. However, most of you wouldn’t be aware of his past life and domestic performances. So, today we will delve into his early days of cricket.

Who is Rasikh Salam Dar?

The 24-year-old Rasikh Salam Dar represents Jammu and Kashmir in domestic tournaments like the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy. His amazing performances in club cricket helped Mumbai Indians scout him in 2018 as he was picked up in the auction.

At the age of 17, he became the youngest player to make his IPL debut in 2018. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India found him guilty in a fake birth certificate case. This forced him to face a two-year ban from domestic and IPL cricket. He made his comeback to IPL in 2022 when Kolkata Knight Riders bought him from the auction table.

How is his performance in cricket?

In the ongoing IPL season, Rasikh has been phenomenal with six wickets in the last two games against Gujarat Titans and MI. Overall in IPL, he has six wickets in seven innings as this year only he opened up his account on the wickets column.

In domestic cricket, he made his debut for Jammu and Kashmir in 2023 only. He represented the team in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and SMAT 2023. In both tournaments, he clinched nine and eleven wickets respectively.
