The ‘impact player’ rule in the Indian Premier League has been a centre of attraction for the last couple of days since the current Indian skipper Rohit Sharma made a big statement. Rohit’s opinion was echoed by a lot of former cricketers and cricket experts as well.

Meanwhile, the star India pace spearhead and RCB pacer, Mohammed Siraj has come up with a big statement while speaking about the ‘impact player’ rule in IPL and its disadvantages for the bowlers and favouring the batters to a larger extent.

“Please remove this Impact Sub thing (laughs), the wickets are already flat and there’s nothing for the bowlers in it, previously, it used to be slow at times, but the batters now come out swinging at absolutely everything,” said Siraj before the match between RCB and KKR at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

“It was a long time (ago) that a team made 250-plus scores, but it has become such a common feature now,” he added later.

“It is going to hold all-rounders back” – Rohit Sharma on ‘impact-player’ rule

Earlier during a conversation with the ‘Club Prairie Fire’ podcast, Rohit Sharma expressed his opinions about the ‘impact player’ rule.

“I am not a big fan of the Impact Sub rule. It is going to hold all-rounders back, eventually, cricket will be played by 11 players, not 12 players. You are taking out so much from the game to make it entertaining for people around,” said Rohit.

“If you look just from the cricketing aspect of it, I feel guys like Shivam Dube and Washington Sundar aren’t getting to bowl, which for us is not a good thing,” he added later.

Coming back to Siraj, he is currently in action for RCB in the ongoing IPL 2024; however, he has not been impressive with the ball so far in the tournament. He has scalped only 5 wickets in the 7 innings of the 7 matches he has played so far in the tournament.
