John Wick fame Keanu Reeves joins Paramount to voice Shadow in 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3'

Amid an ongoing buzz around the famous video game character Sonic, Paramount is set to release the 3rd part of the series on December 20 with Keanu Reeves as one of its voiceover artists.

Amid the ongoing buzz around the famous video game character Sonic, Paramount is set to release the 3rd part of the series on December 20. In the latest media reports, it has been reported that Keanu Reeves has joined the team to voice the famous character Shadow. He will be part of Sonic The Hedgehog 3.

The reports come after jam-packed CinemaCon where Paramount released the first footage of Sonic 3. This also revealed that Dr. Robotnik, portrayed by Jim Carrey, was feeling down and not in great shape after the events of Sonic 2.

However, he finds his energy again by inventing Shadow the Hedgehog, a character introduced in the 2001 video game Sonic Adventure 2. Shadow is quite different from Sonic, darker and more edgy, yet sharing similar abilities with the hero.

Sonic: the most successful video game film!

It is worth noting that Sonic has been a successful franchise for Paramount. Till now, The two parts of the film series have been a global hit which is rare for any Video Game character on the big screen. The first part ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ was released in 2020 and the film earned around 319 million US Dollars globally.

In 2022, Sonic 2 hit the screens and made a whopping $404 million worldwide. Director Jeff Fowler helmed all three movies, with Ben Schwartz lending his voice to Sonic and James Marsden playing Sonic's human friend, Tom Wachowski.

Meanwhile, in recent years, Reeves has been dominating the blockbuster scene. He recently appeared in John Wick: Chapter 4. Before that, he returned to his iconic role as Neo in 2021's The Matrix: Resurrections. Next on his agenda are roles in Aziz Ansari's Good Fortune, where he portrays a guardian angel. He will also play a cameo as the renowned assassin in John Wick's Presents: Ballerina, a spinoff featuring Ana De Armas.
