Star Hollywood filmmaker Quentin Tarantino had been working on his upcoming project ‘The Movie Critique’ as his tenth and final film. However, in the last few weeks, Tarantino had a change of heart as he reportedly backed out from the movie completely.

According to a media house The Hollywood Reporter, Tarantino who was looking to fit Brad Pitt in his upcoming film has put this project on hold. The film was supposed to have a day shoot in California this year before starting full-schedule shooting in early 2025. However, as Quentin Tarantino left the project it is now no longer in contentions.

Notably, no studio had signed on for "The Movie Critic," which became Tarantino's latest project to hit a snag. Before this, he had been working on an R-rated Star Trek movie for Paramount, which never materialized. Speculation had also arisen that Sony, the distributor of "Hollywood," would be a fitting choice for Tarantino's new endeavour with his backing out the whole project has come to a standstill.

What’s next for Quentin Tarantino?

Throughout his last nine films, Tarantino has consistently expressed his desire to end his career on a high note. Back in 2012, he had told Playboy, "I want to retire at a certain point. Directors generally don't improve with age. Usually, the weakest films in their repertoire are those final four.”

“I care deeply about my body of work, and one bad film can overshadow three good ones. I don't want a weak, out-of-touch comedy staining my body of work, a film that makes people think, 'Oh, he still thinks it's 20 years ago.' When directors become outdated, it's not a pretty sight”, he had said.

However, even after Tarantino completes his final feature film, he's expected to remain active in creative pursuits. He has hinted at the possibility of directing limited series or plays in the future. Additionally, he has ventured into novel writing, releasing a novelization of Hollywood in 2021. This novel provided new insights into Cliff Booth's background and psyche.
