Universal Pictures is in the quest for someone to take the lead in the next part of the Jurassic World series. According to the latest news reports, Universal’s team is in talks with Jonathan Bailey to join Scarlett Johansson as the lead in the upcoming movie.
The movie is directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, known for his work on Jurassic Park. Notably, Amblin Entertainment is also teaming up with Universal for this film. This film will continue in the world introduced by author Michael Crichton.
The first part of the film series was brought to the big screen by Steven Spielberg in 1993 as Jurassic Park. Spielberg later directed Jurassic Park: The Lost World (1997). However, Joe Johnston took over the charges for the third part of the film which came in 2001 as Jurassic Park III.
Jurassic Park made a comeback in 2015!
In 2015, Colin Trevorrow revisualized the franchise with Jurassic World, starring Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. The film explored a dinosaur-filled park open to the public making it an amazing visual appearance for the audience.
Pratt and Howard returned for two more films, including 2022's Dominion, which brought the stars together from Jurassic Park (like Sam Neill, Laura Dern, and Jeff Goldblum) and Jurassic World. The new movie is expected to introduce fresh characters to the franchise.
Bailey, known for his role as Prince Fiyero in Wicked, appeared at CinemaCon last week as part of Universal's presentation. He also gained recognition for his performance in the Showtime limited series Fellow Travelers, which earned him a Critics Choice Award. CAA, Anonymous Content, and Hansen Jacobson represent Bailey.
However, the reports suggest that Bailey is still in the early stages of the talks. The actor will look to continue his journey with the Universal in the next few films. Meanwhile, Scarlett Johansson is the only confirmed character till now.
