COO for Battlestate Games, the developers behind the popular extraction shooter game Escape From Tarkov have now come out to announce that the owners of the ‘Edge of Darkness’ bundle will also be getting the upcoming PvE game mode.

In a Reddit post, Nikita Buyanov said, “First of all, I would like to say that I am very sorry that fans and the game community in general are experiencing these feelings. Unfortunately, I somehow did not foresee the fact of such a reaction, and now I have drawn conclusions for my future decisions.”

A brief look at the drama

For those unaware, Escape From Tarkov has recently been added to a new bundle for the game called the Unheard edition. The feature loads of pay-to-win-like features and PvE offline game mode. The bundle cost an insane $250 price tag.

However, it wasn’t the price that riled up fans of the game, it was that the PvE feature and prioritized matching were not available to the Edge of Darkness owners who were promised access to all future DLCs. The company called it a feature and tried to dismiss the owners.

The new decisions described by Buyanov include -

1. Access to PvE mode for Edge of Darkness owners, however, will be available in waves as the company is struggling with server capacity.

2. Mod support for the PvE after full release.

3. New perks for Edge of Darkness owners and removal of prioritized matching from the Unheard edition.

Apart from these, Buyanov promised that the team would work on constant additions to the game including patches, events and much more. The controversial Unheard edition will still be up for purchase or upgrade for people wanting to support development.

However, given the current state of the game in beta and the recent controversy, the company has faced huge damage to its reputation with fans refusing to believe their statement fearing they will also go back on the $250 game edition. This comes during the time when the game was aiming to enter PvP and potentially the esports market.
