The Esports World Cup still has some time to go and has recently revealed all the games that will be featured in the event. Now, the organizers have shocked everyone by announcing a record-breaking prize pool of over $60 million.

This amount has now surpassed the prize pool of Gamers8, which was the initial iteration of the Esports World Cup held last year in Riyadh and featured a prize pool of $45 million. Although the largest prize pool for a single game tournament is still held by The International 2021 for $40 million.

While the official Esports World Cup did break down the prize distribution a little, individual prize pools for all games are yet to be revealed.

Here’s a quick breakdown of the prize pool -

Over $30 million will be reserved for game championships. The Esports World Cup is set to feature 20 championships for 19 games. These include some of the most popular games like Apex Legends, Counter-Strike 2, League of Legends and more.

The event will also see a prize pool of $20 million for the Club Championship, which will feature the top 16 clubs selected as per their performance and will be competing in multi-game competitions. Over $7 million was reserved for the qualifier rounds and over $1 million was reserved for the MVP awards.

Speaking on the matter, CEO of Esports World Cup Foundation, Ralf Reichert said, “More than $60 million is a testament to our investment in the future of global esports, a commitment to esports fans who deserve exceptional events and an extension of our mission to create meaningful competitive opportunities with life-changing prize pools for esports athletes everywhere.”

The organizers expect around $3 million fans for the Esports World Cup. This time around, the event is also not funded by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund but came through various sponsorship and host nation’s funding.
