REDkit coming soon for The Witcher 3

Better late than never as CD Projekt Red is finally set to release the REDkit for The Witcher 3 allowing players to create and share their unique experiences with the gaming community. Fans of the series are excited to get their hands on it.

The initial announcement was made in 2023, but there is currently no release date that has been set. However, players can request early access and if lucky, they will be able to try out the REDkit before release.

What is REDkit?

REDkit is a modding tool for The Witcher 3 that will allow players to create custom quests inside the game. Previously, CD Projekt released MODKit which was also a modding tool, however, the REDkit is far more extensive and allows more flexibility.

In CRPR’s own words, “The Witcher 3 REDkit is a modding tool from CD PROJEKT RED and Yigsoft that allows you to customize and expand The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt in ways never seen before. This powerful tool offers advanced features and unparalleled flexibility, enabling you to unleash your creativity by crafting new quests, characters, animations, and more.”

Players will be able to create new quests, items, weapons, and characters to develop animations, entire storylines, and new territories. If someone wants, they can create their own mini DLC using the REDkit.

“We can't wait to see the amazing things you'll do with it, so let's come together and make The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt even more exciting and enjoyable for everyone!” the developers added.

Why is modding important?

Mods are one of the most important aspects when it comes to single-player games. These allow players to experience the same game differently, allowing them to keep the player base for the game alive. Several beloved games like Baldur’s Gate 3, Elden Ring, Cyberpunk and more allow players to add mods.

Modding is usually not available in online games and is usually limited to appearance. However, the Halo franchise has let players have more flexibility with Forge allowing players to create custom maps and levels for others to enjoy. These are also often featured by developers during events.
