Gray Zone and Arena Breakout (Source - Steam)
Extraction shooters are the talk of the two nowadays, with more and more players getting interested in them. For PC, Escape from Tarkov (EFT) came as a groundbreaking game which attracted millions of players despite not being on any third-party launcher. Prior to that, games like Day-Z made a name for themselves in the PvPvE genre.
However, there were some issues with Tarkov, the game is not on third-party platforms and people easily missed the game. Except for the European region, games purchased in any other can also be launched within the same region. Perhaps the worst thing plaguing the game is the cheating problem.
It was just a matter of time before more games in the same genre were announced. These games are also available on third-party platforms, making them more accessible. One of the recent upcoming games this year is Gray Zone Warfare which was recently showcased in a recent live stream of Shroud as a promotion.
One look at the game was enough to fool anyone into thinking he was playing EFT. There is an open world with over 150 quests, NPCs and players that will come with the early access release. The game looked pretty good, although it did have its moments of multiple bugs and crashes, the game is still in development.
Another upcoming game in the same genre is Arena Breakout, which was initially released as an extraction shooter for mobile devices. The game is now set to release a PC port this year, with enhanced graphics and the realism of gameplay from extraction shooters.
Currently, there is not much known apart from the closed beta that is set to launch next month. Players hope that more news and gameplay footage regarding the game will be available once the beta starts.
Esports scene for Extraction Shooters
Extraction Shooters currently do not have any esports scene, mostly likely due to their gameplay nature. However, Escape from Tarkov was to enter esports with Escape from Tarkov Arena. Other games will also likely follow a similar trend, and players may very well see tournaments for these types of games in the future.
