The game of football have evolved over the years as there has been lot of developments in the technological aspects of the game as the years have passed by. However, there has been problems that have been raised despite the developement of the technologies and new innovations in the game. Despite the introduction of the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) and the Semi-Automated Offside Technology there has been issues with both of the developments and teams and players have suffered for the same as well. 

Referees have always been questioned for their decision in the match and have been made as the culprit for their wrong decisions over the years. In the biggest stages there has been some robberies where some decisions from the matach officials has changed the course of the game. With Chelsea vs FC Barcelona UCL game is the biggest example where the London side were denied of some clear penalties and handballs against Barca players. 

In order to solve the problems Andriy Shevchenko, the former Ballon d'Or winner who is incharge of the the Ukraine Football Federation has decided to make some changes in the refereeing process. He has proposed an unorthodox strategy to addressing the long-standing issue of referee bias in domestic football matches. The star footballer have decided for an innovative approach to address the suspected corruption that has plagued domestic football in Ukraine. 

Lie-Detector test for referees?

The former AC Milan footballer intends to transform the referee appointment process by moving away from the existing system, which considers characteristics such as match importance, experience, and refereeing ability, and towards a fully random selection technique. He also keeps in mind about the match-fixing allegations that have detoriated the sport's reputation in the country.

He said, "That any referees who fail the polygraph test in the future will be disqualified from officiating matches." His appointment of the as the president of the Ukrainian Football Association was controversial. There were rumours that he manipulated to remove his godfather and predecessor, Pavelko, from his position to take the control of Ukrainian football.
