The UEFA Euro 2024 is just a month away to start, as the teams prepare their best side for the marquee tournament that is scheduled to take place in Germany.  Ahead of the tournament to start the England footballers have been warned by the police officers on the threat of online racism during the tournament and also reassured them they will “take seriously” any abuse during the tournament. Racism in football has been often with almost every player have been the victim of such activities by the fans.

Previously, three footballers from England, Marcus Rashford,  Bukayo Saka and Jadon Sancho were targeted by the fans, after they missed penalties in the last edition of the tournament back in 2021 against Italy in the final which led their side to lose the ultimate game at Wembley. They were hugely abused by the three footballers after their crucial misses in the game.

Presently the national lead for football policing in England and Wales says it is now easier to find the offenders because social media companies have become more co-operative. Chief Constable Mark Roberts, said his officers briefed the squad at England's St George’s Park training base in March and also said that the force is there to support them fully.

Chief Officer Roberts Warns Fans Ahead of Euro

Roberts has explained "on how they can protect themselves by setting up their own accounts to try and prevent it happening and to reassure them that we are there. If people do engage in this behaviour we will deal with it and, where possible, we will prosecute." The officer has also warned the fans that who caused any offence, or broke public order laws with abusive chants will be fined and might also be arrested.

The warning comes right ahead of the tournament to start, as the authorities plan to send the biggest force of British police officers to an overseas tournament after more than a decade. With hundreds and thousands of fans are set to travel next month the support of the Three Lions. As the chief constable expects 300,000 UK fans to travel to Germany
