As reported by Marca, Manchester United has officially added Alex Remiro on their list of potential goalkeeper targets for the summer. The Red Devils have become unhappy with the costly Andre Onana. They could attempt to establish competition for slots, but they must first come to terms with Real Sociedad to cut the €70 million asking price for the La Liga star.

Manchester United's defence proved to be a major issue this year, and their pricey custodian, Andre Onana, has received a lot of criticism at various points. On Monday, he allowed four more goals as Crystal Palace dominated, sentencing Erik ten Hag's team to another disastrous night.

They have allowed 81 goals across all tournaments, which is unacceptable given Onana's status on the international football circuit. Manchester United is not planning to replace the Cameroonian during the summer, but they do want to add competition to their goalkeeper position, with Alex Remiro being the latest target.

Remiro has had an outstanding campaign with Real Sociedad, surrendering only 40 goals across all competitions while maintaining 20 clean sheets. He also received his first call-up for the Spanish national team in March and is set to join the squad for the Euros. Manchester United is concerned of his high asking price, as Real Sociedad expected to seek roughly €70 million for the La Liga star.

Who can Manchester United target other than Alex Remiro?

Manchester United are considering numerous potential options to replace second-choice custodian Altay Bayindir. The plan is to bring in someone who will keep Onana on his feet and give the management a selection nightmare for matches. Lazio's Ivan Provedel has become a target; they might convince him to switch for the appropriate fee.

They are also interested in Andriy Lunin, the current Real Madrid custodian, who could serve as Thibaut Courtois' backup next season whenever the Belgian returns. He has been great for the Spanish giants and will likely be their second choice next year; he could request to go.
