FC Barcelona have suffered in the ongoing season, as the club has been knocked out of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals after losing to Pari Saint-Germain 1-4 at home. The Blaugranes have struggled to find form in La Liga as well, as they are out of winning the league after their loss against arch-rivals Real Madrid on Sunday as the Los Blancos went 11 points clear. Xavi's side until the two defeats were on an unbeaten run of 13 games but within a span of a week, everything changed.

The head coach has already announced his departure from the club after the end of the current season. However, the management is eager to keep the former World Cup winner for many more seasons to come as under him some good young players have come up to the senior side and have been performing well, with the likes of Gavi, Lamine Yamal, Fermin Lopez, Pau Cubarsi and Alejandro Balde. These young guns have performed superbly under the former Spain footballer.

Irrespective of the 44-year-old leaving the club, there has been a rumour that Manchester City head coach Pep Guardiola has shown interest in coming back to Catalonia once again after serving four years with the senior team. He has given the glory days for the Blaugranes winning sextuple with the club once.

Pep Guardiola set to return in Catalonia?

Amidst all the speculations the 53-year-old has shown interest in returning to his boyhood club, but not as a manager. He stated via GOAL, in a discussion with Spanish footballer Aitana Bonmati, that he will return to the club as the president and he would love to sign the Spanish footballer as the Sporting director of the club. He also talks about there will be no financial problems as he would not coach the club. Barca have been struggling with financial problems as the club is still yet to recover from the economic threat.

However, because of the economic crisis, the club got some big names signing in the 2022/23 season and brought in Robert Lewandowski, Jules Kounde, Andreas Christensen and Raphinha, as these stars have performed well for the club in the two seasons they have participated in.
