Formed in 2014, by Shrinivas Dempo and Dattaraj Salgaocar, FC Goa has been one of the most entertaining and consistent teams of the tournament. FC Goa has reached the playoffs six times and reached finals twice yet the ISL trophy still eludes them. In the last 7 editions, it has happened only once they have not been able to reach the playoffs which is a testament to their consistency.

FC Goa’s jersey is made up of sporting blue and orange colours which signifies the sea and the sun which has been the highlight of Goa. The Gaurs are known to play an aggressive brand of football and have flair attached to their game which makes them a team to watch out for. Over the years some amazing talent have played for the Gaurs who have scored plenty of goals for them.  

In this article, let’s revisit the top 5 goal-scores for FC Goa in the history of ISL:

1. Ferran Corominas – 48 goals

Ferran Corominas played ISL for just three seasons but in that limited time, he etched his name as the top goal scorer for FC Goa in ISL history. The Spanish goal machine made his debut in the 2017-18 season where he went on a goal-scoring spree and in just 20 games went on to score 18 goals in the season.  

His astonishing performance earned him the Golden Boot in his first-ever stint. He carried on his red-hot form in the next two seasons as well where he scored 16 and 14 goals respectively taking his total goals tally to 48. In the meantime, he again won the Golden Boot in his 2nd consecutive season.

2. Hugo Boumous – 16 goals

Born on 25th July 1995 Hugo Boumous was brought by FC Goa ahead of the 2017-18 season to make the midfielder region stronger. After a decent ISL, the Moroccan player was the stand-out player for the FC Goa.

Although, the French-Moroccan player had a contract with FC Goa he was bought by Mumbai FC ahead of the 2020-21 season. He scored 16 goals for the Gaurs in 37 appearances.

3. Noah Sadaoui – 15 goals

Noah Sadaoui is the 3rd highest goal-scorer in the history of ISL for FC Goa. The Gaurs signed the Morocco national in the 2022-23 season given the talent he possessed and till now he has scored 15 goals for FC Goa in the 36 games he has played.

In the 2023-24 season, the FC Goa midfielder netted 6 goals in the 16 matches he played in this season. In the last season, he featured in 20 games in which he managed to 9 goals. His total tally of goals gives him a third position in the all-time highest goal-scores for FC Goa and could reach the 2nd position in the next season.

4. Jorge Ortiz – 14 goals

The departure of Hugo Boumous left a void in FC Goa, therefore ahead of the 2021-22 season, they signed the Spaniard Jorge Ortiz in their team. In proved out to be a good signing for the Guars as he became the 4th top goal scorer for FC Goa with 14 goals in 34 appearances. 

Ortiz was the highest goal-scorer for FC Goa in the 2021-22 and was going great guns for them but he decided to part ways with the club after two years.

5. Igor Angulu – 13 goals

FC Goa signed Igor Angulu ahead of the 2020-21 season at a time when the club was going through a period of transition. The Spaniard was the top priority of the Gaurs, especially after the departure of Ferran Corominas during that same time who won the Golden Boot in two consecutive seasons out of the three seasons, he played for the Gaurs.

Igor had a good stint with FC Goa as he scored 13 goals in the 19 matches he played for FC Goa. However, his stint with the Gaurs ended after he was dropped by them for the AFC Championship. Igor then moved to Mumbai FC for the next season.
