The time has come where the Madrid Open is now in its big matches with all the top players starting their games. While there are some of them who are currently in incredible form, there are also some individuals who are trying to get back into form as well. This is the opportunity for these players to start their season with a few wins all together.

A top 10 player who has been absolutely struggling this season is Russian talent Andrey Rublev. Rublev was perhaps one of the top players last season and was set to be one of the favourites at the start of the clay season. Unfortunately he has currently been going through a losing streak this time around. Rublev has lost 4 games in a row this season and has been having a disappointing clay season so far. It was today where he had a chance to finally break the streak against lower seeded player Facundo Bagnis.

Rublev breaks the streak and qualifies for the next round

The first set of the match started in favour of the Russian as he completely dominated Bagnis winning 6 games to 1 and assuring that he was in control only needing to win the second set to win the game. The second set saw Bagnis try to come back but in the end it was Rublev who was on top in the whole game. This made sure that Rublev beat the Argentenian in two straight sets and qualified for the 3rd round of the tournament and finally got back to winning ways.

This was the end of the 4-game losing streak for Rublev who finally got a win on the day. This will give him immense confidence going forward in the tournament. We hope to see a perfect comeback from the 26-year-old world number 6 player in the ATP rankings. There will be high expectations from the Russian and he will look to continue his great performances going forward in the Spanish capital.
