The ATP tournaments might not be major tournaments like the grand slams but still entertain us with some great tennis matches. What is as special as the matches is the comebacks of certain players. In the last tournament we saw Rafael Nadal make a comeback into the Barcelona Open. This is one of the comebacks the fans have been waiting for since they wanted to see the King of clay give another great performance which could possibly be his last season.

Now with the Madrid Open and clay season in full flow there was only one player who’s comeback was left. It was great to see Carlos Alacaraz come back from his arm injury to defend his Madrid crown. The Spaniard was set to play a lower seeded player in Alexander Shevchenko in the second round of the tournament. It has been a long enough break for Alcaraz and this was the match to see if he can still play at his absolute best.

Alcaraz starts with an easy win

We have seen in the past that tennis players tend to come out rusty after coming back from a serious injury. However in the case of Alcaraz there seemed to be no problem. The 20-year-old Spanish star was looking in absolute form and completely dominated the Kazakhstani in the first set winning 6 games to 2. The next set was another one sided affair as Alcaraz won 6 games to 1. This was the most dominant victory where the 2-time grand slam winner and defending Madrid Open champion looked in phenomenal touch in his opening game. This was also a great way to start his clay season.

This was a glimpse of what Alcaraz is capable of on the tennis court with his powerful forehands and complete court coverage. It will be interesting to see what he will have in store going forward in the tournament. The world number 3 will be playing Thiago Seyboth Wild in the 3rd round of the tournament. With this current performance we are sure to expect some great things from the young Spanish prodigy.
