'I came here a bit on a last minute decision...'- Rafael Nadal on his return to clay season

The Barcelona Open has already started and it will be featuring some talented players in the mix. Monte Carlo winner and runner up Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud will be featuring in the tournament to continue to master this clay season. The absence of Carlos Alcaraz is so far the only disappointing news going forward in the tournament. We will be hoping for another great clay tournament that will impress everyone in this clay season.

The return people were actually looking forward to is the king of clay Rafael Nadal. It has been a long time since the 22 time grand slam winner who has been out of the game since the last two seasons. There were speculations that Nadal will return this clay season in the Barcelona Open. This would also be the perfect homecoming for the legend as well. There has been a long wait for the fans to see El nino return to the game and he has finally confirmed his return as he will be playing Flavio Cabello in the first round of the tournament.

Nadal on his comeback

This will really be a big moment in tennis to see the King of clay perform this clay season. It has been 680 days since Nadal has played in a tournament and it will be great to see him back to business. The former world number also gave a statement on his return saying “ I came here a bit on a last minute decision,  not knowing if I could play. But tomorrow I’ll be on the court.”

This is absolutely wonderful news for all the El nino fans in the tennis world, who are finally seeing their star play after a long break from the game. It will also be interesting to see whether he will still be at his best considering his long sabbatical from the game. This will be the moment the people will be rejoicing and wanting to see the man play in the season which he has ruled for a long time. This will also be a quest for his 13th title in Barcelona as well.
