Though Danielle Collins does not have age on her side this season has been something we all should remember. Collins straight away jumped up the rankings this season after winning two WTA 1000 titles in Miami and Charleston. One of the victories came against the high-ranking Elena Rybakina. This has really been a great comeback season for the 30-year-old American and she will be looking to make a statement in Madrid.

3. Elena Rybakina

Elena Rybakina is no doubt one of the best players in the current generation of tennis players and will be looking forward to this tournament. There have been some final defeats which were heartbreaking for the Kazakhstani and there might have been a few injuries, but this has not stopped her from achieving some great wins in the WTA season. She will still be confident after winning the Stuttgart Open this year and will be looking to get her hands on another clay title.

2. Aryna Sabalenka

After winning the Australian Open it has been an underwhelming performance by Aryna Sabalenka in the WTA tournaments. Belarusian has won a big title after her grand slam victory. However, there is still a big chance for her in the upcoming Madrid Open where she will also go into the season as the defending champion. This tournament can be the moment for Sabalenka to finally get back into her winning form and show why she is one of the best in the world right now.

1. Iga Swiatek

The world number 1 of the current generation Iga Swiatek might not have had the best start to the season after failing to make the knockouts in the Australian Open, but she has had a fairly successful run in the WTA tournaments. Swiatek went on to win the Qatar Open and the Indian Wells this season and has been making the knockouts consistently. The 22-year-old Polish was also the runner up in the Madrid Open last year. This will be an opportunity for Swiatek to finally get her hands on the title and continue her dominance in the tennis world.
