Bayley to defend WWE Women's Championship, LA Knight and AJ Styles face each other to claim title shot at Cody Rhodes on Friday Night Smackdown

On Friday Night Smackdown on the 19th of April 2024, two high-profile matches are set to take place. AJ Styles will be facing AJ Styles which would be important for Backlash. The winner of the match will face Cody Rhodes in the upcoming PPV event for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. It promises to be a good match given the recent history between the two Superstars.

For Fastlane 2023, Styles had to team up with John Cena to face the Bloodline duo of Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa. However, he was taken out by the bloodline, which led to LA Knight partnering with Cena. On his return, Styles considered Night to have walked over his dead body to attain glory, which he believed Knight to be undeserving of. 

The duo has been in a feud with each other since then. In the Royal Rumble, Styles, Randy Orton, and Knight fought Roman Reigns in a fatal 4-way match for the world title. While Roman defended it, Knight took part in the men's Chamber match. As Styles cost him in the match, it led to WrestleMania XL Match, where Knight emerged victorious. Last week on Smackdown, the duo won their respective match in the qualifying round.

Bayley vs Naomi for WWE Women's Championship

As promised in the last week, Bayley will be taking on Naomi for the world title. The match was about to happen in the previous week, only to be interrupted by Tiffany Stratton. Naomi then fought the Centre of the universe and claimed a win. With the virtue of it, she will have the privilege of facing Bayley for the world title in the upcoming episode.

Bayley had a difficult time in winning the title. On her way to glory, Naomi had Bayley's back. It was appreciated by the former Damage Control member who has given her an opportunity to win the title. In WrestleMania XL, Bayley beat Iyo Sky in a great match to claim the title. Naomi won the triple threat match in WrestleMania XL.
