Trick Williams overcomes all odds to beat Carmelo Hayes in Steel Cage match

Trick Williams beat Carmelo Hayes in the main event of NXT. Trick and Carmelo delivered a great Steel Cage match, unlike their main event match in NXT Stand and Deliver earlier this month. The fans were fully invested and were hooting during the event saying, 'This is awesome'. Trick will now be up against Ilja Dragunov in the upcoming week for the NXT Championship.

Carmelo Hayes entered the ring with a set of bodyguards. Williams came to his theme song and the fans chanted, 'Whoop that Trick'. Since it was a no-disqualification match, Melo used all kinds of foul tricks to try and get over his former friend. He collected a cane from one of the bodyguards and smashed Wiliams on numerous occasions. 

Williams somehow managed to escape the wrath. He then delivered a couple of athletic side kicks. Carmelo countered the third one and delivered a tornado DDT. In the first instance, Carmelo failed, as Trick countered well. Later in the match, Hayes executed his brilliant move. Trick followed it up with a Super Kick. It progressed towards an interesting phase and it got a bit brutal.

Trick Williams overcomes Carmelo Hayes' foul play

Trick delivered a rock bottom from the apron and Hayes kicked out. He then smashed his former friend in all directions of the steel cage. Williams hit Carmelo on his head repeatedly and delivered chops one after the other. The fans enjoyed their match. To heat things, the bodyguards helped Melo and handed him a steel chair to smash Williams. Little did they know it would backfire. 

As Melo tried to smash Williams with the steel chair, he escaped and delivered his finisher. Melo had no answer to Trick's Bicycle Knee Strike. The NXT Champion challenger successfully pinned Hayes to claim an impressive win. It would have given him a huge confidence ahead of the title match against Ilja Dragunov. Williams looked Dragunov into his eyes after the match as the duo will have a high-stakes match on NXT in the upcoming week.
