The Group B match of the ACC Under-19s Asia Cup 2019 will be played between Bangladesh Under-19s and United Arab Emirates (UAE) Under-19s at the Mercantile Cricket Association Ground in Colombo.
The match starts at 9:30 AM local time (4:00 AM GMT) (9:30 AM IST).
In terms of consistency, the Bangladesh Under-19s are only behind India among the Asian teams at the Under-19 level. The recent U19s Triangular ODI series in England proved the same. Bangladesh went unbeaten during the tournament against the hosts England. However, the tournament was won by India who defeated Bangladesh in the final. Bangladesh gained upper hand over India in one of the league matches.
With the confidence earned through the performances in that tournament, Bangladesh walks into the tournament as one of the favourites. Their campaign will begin against the United Arab Emirates Under-19s on Friday. UAE team made it to this competition by topping in the qualifier tournament. During the 6-team U19 Asia Cup Qualifier tournament, UAE won all the five matches they played.
Colombo continues to be under the threat of rain as both matches played on Thursday were affected by rain. The same is expected to be across the two games scheduled for Friday at the RPS and Mercantile respectively. About 40% of chances of rain are predicted during the match timings.
Mercantile Cricket Association Ground stood host for only one professional match – A T20I between South Africa and the hosts back in 2014. Going by the scores recorded during the division league matches played here, it can be said that the Mercantile Ground will witness scores around 220.

UAE can be considered as the best team outside the full member nations in this tournament. However, it has to be seen how well they can do justice to their career numbers against lower-ranked teams.
Bangladesh Under-19s are expected to win this game unless the UAE bowlers come up with something special.
