Rohit Sharma and Co. clinched the T20I series win against Bangladesh after coming from behind as they were lagging it by 1-0 after the Delhi contest. They marked a strong comeback by winning back to back matches that helped the hosts to outclass the visitors. And, the stand-in captain Rohit Sharma heaped praises on the bowlers, who helped Team India to win the series decider in Nagpur.
After a quickfire fifties coming from the bat of Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul helped the hosts to post a respectable total of 174 runs. But, looking forward to the inexperienced bowling line-up of the team in the absence of their premium bowlers, it looked like the ‘Men in Blue’ were left short of 10 to 20 runs to their total.
However, a commendable effort coming from the likes of young pacer Deepak Chahar and Shivam Dube didn’t make anyone realize that Team India is playing without Jasprit Bumrah and Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The duo helped the hosts in winning the 3rd T20I by 30 runs.
Rohit Sharma heaps praise on bowlers
In the post-match presentation, Rohit said it was bowlers, who helped them in winning the crucial encounter. He accepted the fact that there was a dew factor and it was tough to bowl in those conditions. But, it was the young boys, who took the responsibility on their shoulders. The 32-year-old also explained the pep talk he gave to the players during the match and made them understand that they were playing for India.
“It was the bowlers who won us the game. I know how tough it was in the middle considering the dew factor. At one stage it was looking easy for them when they needed 70-odd of 8 overs; things were looking tough for us. It was a great comeback from us. The boys took responsibility and raised their hands up. I just reminded them this (pointing towards the jersey) is what we are playing for. I can understand when wickets are not falling, it’s hard to pick up. I just had to remind what team they’re playing for, credit to the bowlers,” Rohit Sharma told as quoted by India Today.
Team India will host a two-match Test series against Bangladesh that will start from November 14.
