Arguably, the least hated cricketer on the planet, Kane Williamson celebrated his 30th birthday on Saturday. Everybody who follows cricket or is a part of the cricket community wished the gifted cricketer on their social media handles.

New Zealand came as a runner-up in the 2019 World Cup in England and the way Kane handled his team in the crunch situation was applauded by everyone. The captain of the blackcaps is recognized as one of the calmest lads and this quality of him makes him the real gentleman even in the ‘modern age’ of cricket.

The Kiwi all-rounder Jimmy Neesham who played with the skipper last year in the World Cup didn’t wish his leader on social media. His answer was quite interesting when someone asked the reason for it. Neesham mentioned, “If you know Kane well, the best gift you can give him is NOT putting an Instagram wishing him a happy birthday.”

Under tougher batting conditions, I would back Williamson ahead of Kohli: Glenn Turner

The Kiwi skipper is a very good friend of Indian skipper Virat Kohli. Both were also seen chatting on the fence when India met New Zealand on their tour to island country earlier this year. Former New Zealand captain Turner compared the modern great recently. He termed Williamson a better batsman than his Indian counterpart when it comes to batting in difficult situations.

Notably, both the right-handers have been leading their respective sides for quite some time now. Indian conditions are spin-friendly and seamers relish their time in New Zealand. Turner said that Kohli is as better as anyone when the ball is turning but he is exposed to seamers when the wicket is difficult. Both Kohli and Williamson are highly ranked batsmen in Test Cricket, they are ranked on 2nd and 4th in ICC Test rankings respectively.

“Kohli is less likely to have been exposed early in his development to seaming pitches and the ball continuing to swing for extended periods, whereas Williamson will have experienced those conditions more often,” Turner was quoted as saying by The Telegraph.

“I would only say that under tougher batting conditions, I would back Williamson ahead of Kohli. Under good batting conditions, Kohli is likely to be more dominant, thereby providing his team with more time to get a favourable result,” he added.
