The third T20I between India and South Africa saw a bizarre incident taking place when Tabraiz Shamsi dismissed Shikhar Dhawan. The game had started on a poor note for Shamsi due to Dhawan. In his very first over, Shamsi was smashed for two big sixes by the India opener. But the left-arm chinaman had the last laugh in the duel.
In his second over, he made Dhawan miscue one and got him caught by Temba Bavuma. And what followed thereafter was completely unexpected. While Shamsi is known for his extravagant celebrations, not many would have expected such celebrations from him after dismissing Dhawan. Shamsi brought back his famous shoe celebration to celebrate the wicket.
In the celebration, Shamsi takes his shoes off and then pretends to make a phone call with it. Unsurprisingly, it looked disrespecting at that moment as not many were impressed with Shamsi’s gesture. Well on Tuesday, the South Africa star took to Twitter to clarify his celebration, saying that it was ‘only love, enjoyment and entertainment’. He also hilariously wrote that Dhawan should have warned him before the ‘smoking him out of park’, writing, “No disrespect… only love, enjoyment and entertainment! Asked the big man why he didnt give me a warning atleast before smoking me out of the park 1st two balls lol”

Reason behind the celebration
Following the conclusion of the third T20I, South Africa vice-captain Rassie van der Dussen had tried to explain Tabraiz Shamsi’s celebration. Dussen revealed that his teammate pretends to call his hero, Imran Tahir after taking any crucial wicket. He also said that dismissing Shikhar Dhawan was a nice moment for the spinner.
“Yeah Shamsi always phones to Immy (Imran Tahir). Immy is obviously one of his heroes, and they work together a lot. So it was a nice moment for Shamsi to take a big wicket of Dhawan like Immy for us,” van der Dussen said.
Meanwhile, the Proteas thrashed India by nine wickets to level the three-match series. After restricting India to a paltry 134/9 in 20 overs, the visitors chased the target in just 16.5 overs. Captain Quinton de Kock’s unbeaten 79 was the best performance of the game.
