Being a Lahore Qalandars fan in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is a hard thing to do. One gives everything which he can to support the franchise, which is yet to win a single edition of the tournament, despite being the second-most expensive franchise, and one of the few teams sold to an international company.
However, all the money and power has failed to bring success to the team, as it has finished at the bottom spot in each of the four previous editions of PSL and didn’t start on a good note in PSL 5 as well, losing both of their opening matches, one to Multan Sultans and their latest defeat came against defending champions Islamabad United, who defeated them by one wicket.
This series of losses has brought much ridicule to the team and it has become a topic of meme on Pakistani social media as Twitter is filled with humorous takes on franchise owner Fawad Rana and his various expressions during the matches, which usually start with elation and happiness and end with tears and dejection. Well, he is not the only one crying seeing Qalandars not living up to their name.
A young Qalandar fan’s tearful criticism for his team goes viral
Pakistani journalist Mazher Arshad shared a video of a young child who supports Lahore Qalandars with his heart, crying his eyes out after his team’s recent loss to United by one wicket. It seems he has been quite hurt by their performance and even brought in the previous game against Sultans into the reference, including Shahid Afridi, who usually gets out early, but scored a 12-ball 21* to take Sultans to the win.

A team filled with talents such as Fakhar Zaman, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Salman Butt, Chris Lynn, Mohammad Hafeez, Haris Rauf and Usman Shinwari, has never managed to get past the group stages, finishing last in all four previous editions. In their last match, they scored 182/6 thanks to 98* from Hafeez.
But their bowlers couldn’t defend the total, with Shadab Khan’s half-century being the top score. In the end, Muhammad Musa made 17* and took his team to a victory with just one wicket remaining and one ball in hand.
