The Indian cricket team will resume international cricket at home with the England tour of India earlier next year. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) president Sourav Ganguly confirmed that India will be hosting England for a full-fledged tour in 2021. The two teams will be up against each other in a 3-match ODI series, five-match T20I series, and four-match Test series.
The Men in Blue are currently in Australia and will be resuming their international duties with a three-match ODI and T20I series followed by a four-match Border Gavaskar Trophy. They are currently completing their 14-day quarantine period before locking horns against Australia in the first One Day International on November 27 in Sydney.
Speaking about the England tour of India in 2021, Sourav Ganguly said during a virtual press conference by Livinguard AC, “England is touring India for four Test matches, three ODIs, and five T20Is. It is easy to have bilaterals as there are just two teams. We have to keep assessing the situation, a lot of people are talking about the second COVID-19 wave. We have to be careful,” Sourav Ganguly said.
It is speculated that the Indian board can host a day-night between India and England at the newly-built Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad. Also, few reports suggested that BCCI can host England in the United Arab Emirates, same as the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), however, the former Indian captain didn’t reveal any such details.
Indian to tour England in August 2021
A few days back, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) had announced the schedule of the England cricket team for Summer 2021. ECB had officially confirmed that the Indian team will be touring England for a five-match Test series in the month of August and September in 2021. The five-Test fixtures will be played from August 4 to September 14 at five different venues namely Trent Bridge, Lord’s, Headingley, The Oval, and Emirates Old Trafford.
“The Test series against India is due to conclude the Men’s international summer, with Tests at Trent Bridge, Lord’s, Emerald Headingley, the Kia Oval, and Emirates Old Trafford,” ECB had said in an official statement
