Kevin Pietersen was a class batsman while playing for England. He had a vast range of strokes in his cricket dictionary that he used to play against the bowlers. The 39-year-old was also a fine hitter, who had the ability to dismantle any fast bowling unit. However, there was one bowler that he found the most difficult to face in international cricket. Pietersen has revealed the bowler’s name in his recent social media activity.
The 39-year-old batsman bid adieu to international cricket back in 2014. But, during his illustrious career, he played against some finest bowlers of all time like Brett Lee, Shane Warne, Zaheer Khan, Glenn McGrath and many more. Surprisingly, he never had problems facing the aforementioned bowlers and ended up being one of the best batsmen in the history of England cricket.
Kevin Pietersen lauds Mohammad Asif
Recently, a fan took to his Twitter handle and shared a clip of Mohammad Asif dismissing Kevin Pietersen during a Test match between England Pakistan. Moreover, he tagged the latter in his post. In that clip, Mohammad Asif bowled a full-length delivery close to the stumps. And, Pietersen failed to middle the ball with his willow and ended up giving an easy catch to wicketkeeper Kamran Akmal.
As soon as Pietersen, who stays active on social media came across the post ended up giving a pleasing response to his follower. He took to his official Twitter handle and said that Mohammad Asif was the finest bowler he had ever faced in his cricketing career.
The 39-year-old added that he is happy that the Pakistan bowler got banned from international cricket. Pietersen accepted the fact that he had no idea while facing him in the matches. He wrote, “I think there’s plenty batters around the world that were happy he got banned! He was the best I faced! I had no idea against him!.”
It is known that Mohammad Asif was found guilty for having an involvement in the infamous fixing scandal back in 2010 due to which he was handed with a five-year band and one-year imprisonment. He made his international debut back in 2005 and till 2010, he dismissed twice in Tests and ODIs and once in T20Is.
