International Cricket Council (ICC) is currently planning to come out with some strict and new rules like no use of saliva and sweat during the games amid COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, Ajinkya Rahane has given a funny angle to that approach that the Indian players might acquire once cricket is back.
It is known that Coronavirus has raised a big question mark on the sustainability of human life on planet earth. More than 2 Lakh people have lost their lives across the globe and the number is increasing with each day passing. This has forced governments to enforce lockdown in the country. Also, they have asked each and every individual to maintain social distancing until the situation comes under control.
Ajinkya Rahane feels that the physical contact between the players will be minimized
Earlier, many cricket boards from different countries acquired an approach that the players will not be involved in a customary handshake during the games. Meanwhile, there are reports that ICC is also mulling an idea of banning the usage of saliva and sweat. Moreover, they might also opt for a no-contact approach between the players during the games going into the future.
In a recent web conference, Ajinkya Rahane said that now the players might not get to celebrate the wickets like they used to do previously. As per him, the fielders will stay at their fielding position and can do namaste. He added the fact that not only cricket but the daily life of the people will be impacted going into the future. The 31-year-old feels that the physical contact between the players will be minimized due to the pandemic once cricket is back in action.
“Now celebrating a wicket will be like doing a namaste or something else. Just stay at your place like old times, don’t need to run in from the boundary, you can do namaste. You cannot take anything for granted. Not only cricket I think in general our lifestyle will be impacted,” said Rahane in the web conference organised by ELSA Corp.
