The 2019 edition of the Carribean Premier League (CPL) is underway and the qualifiers of the league will begin after a week among the top four teams. On Thursday, in a clash between St Lucia Zouks and Guyana Amazon Warriors, a hilarious moment took place when Colin Ingram and Rahkeem Cornwall were batting.
The heavyweight cricketer Rahkeem Cornwall got himself caught in a comical run-out while taking a single. Cornwall is currently one of the heaviest cricketers going around, weighing 140kg and is not that great when it comes to running between the wickets. In the match against Guyana Amazon Warriors his casual approach while running sent him back to the pavilion.
An embarrassing moment for Cornwall
The incident took place during the 6th over of the innings when Chris Green was bowling. Colin Ingram hit the ball towards the short third-man and set off for a relatively easy single. Rahkeem Cornwall also responded to the call and ran and seemed to have reached the striker’s end comfortably when the stumps were disturbed by the wicket-keeper Nicholas Pooran.
Sensing a run-out opportunity, Pooran appealed and the matter was taken upstairs. To everyone’s surprise, Cornwall was short of the crease as he didn’t ground his bat which was well inside the crease but in the air. The third umpire was convinced and Cornwall had to go back to the dugout even as his skipper Darren Sammy wasn’t entirely impressed with the effort.

St Lucia Zouks got off to a poor start and was brought back on track by Colin Ingram and Colin de Grandhomme. Ingram contributed with a 14-ball 25-run cameo whereas the latter scored his 11th T20 fifty scoring 65 runs off 37 deliveries.
The hosts managed to post 161 for 7 in 20 overs. Guyana Amazon Warriors chased the target easily courtesy of a blistering knock of 81 from 59 deliveries from opener Brandon King, which included two fours and six sixes. King was also involved in a 52-run opening partnership with Chanderpaul Hemraj.
Guyana is currently on the top in the points table with seven wins from as many games while St Lucia Zouks are struggling at the bottom half of the table with just two wins from eight outings.
