Echoing Sourav Ganguly’s sentiments, veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh has slammed Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Ethics Officer after Rahul Dravid became the latest name to find himself in Conflict of Interest controversy. The BCCI’s Ombudsman-cum-Ethics Officer, Justice (Retd) DK Jain, sent a notice to Dravid after receiving a complaint from Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) life member Sanjeev Gupta.
According to Gupta’s complaint, Dravid is allegedly ‘conflicted’ as he is Director of the National Cricket Academy and also employed as vice-president in India Cements group. The cement company owns Indian Premier League giants Chennai Super Kings.
“BCCI Ethics Officer Justice DK Jain has sent a notice to Rahul Dravid last week after receiving a complaint. He has been given two weeks to reply over Conflict of Interest,” a BCCI source was quoted by News 18.
Dravid has been reportedly asked to respond to the notice within two weeks. If needed, he can also be asked to appear in person and meet the ethics officer. However, the turn of events has not gone down well with some of Dravid’s former teammates. Ganguly was the first high-profile name to object to the decision.
“New fashion in Indian cricket …..conflict of interest…Best way to remain in news …god help Indian cricket ……Dravid Gets Conflict of Interest Notice from BCCI Ethics Officer,” Ganguly wrote on Twitter.

Harbhajan Singh reacts
Just like Ganguly, Harbhajan Singh was equally surprised with BCCI’s decision. Backing Ganguly, Harbhajan came out in Dravid’s support by saying that he was not pleased with how the legendary cricketers were being treated.
“Really ?? Don’t know where it’s heading to.. u can’t get a better person than him for Indian cricket. Sending notice to these legends is like insulting them.. cricket needs their services for betterment.. yes god save Indian cricket,” Harbhajan wrote in his reply to Ganguly’s tweet.

This is not the first time the big names of Indian cricket have landed in similar situations. Earlier, Ganguly along with Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman were also issued with the same notice.
