England pacer James Anderson created havoc against India on the fifth day of the first Test right from the start of his first over. Anderson picked up wickets of Shubman Gill and Ajinkya Rahane in his first over of the day. Later, he also dismissed Rishabh Pant thus leaving the Indian team reeling at a score of 110/5 in the fourth innings. With these wickets, James Anderson has created a unique record and surpassed legendary bowler Courtney Walsh.
James Anderson now has the most Test wickets as a pacer after the age of 30 years. He has taken 343 Test wickets till now after turning 30 and toppled Courtney Walsh from the record list as the Caribbean has 341 Test wickets to his name after turning 30. These two are followed by Glenn McGrath, Richard Hadlee, and Allan Donald.

Anderson also holds the record in terms of bowlers taking the most Test wickets against India. He has taken 114 wickets against India, which is the most for any bowler in Test cricket. In his Test career, Anderson has been most successful against India among any other team. No doubt, Anderson likes the Indian team the most as an opposition.
The 38-year old pacer James Anderson made his debut in the year 2003 against Zimbabwe. He is the only fast bowler to take more than 600 wickets in Test cricket. Earlier in the day, India continued with their score of 39/1 on the fourth day. India lost one of their most important wickets of Cheteshwar Pujara very soon, who scored 15 runs off 38 balls. Pujara who had earlier scored a half-century in the first innings, was dismissed by English spinner Jack Leach in the second innings. England had set a big target of 420 runs against India in the fourth innings. India went on to get all-out for 192 runs, giving England a 227-run win.
